Reef Dive
With spectacular coral formations and tropical sponges, the Great Mayan Barrier Reef is a natural refuge for sea turtles, dolphins, sea horses, and a multitude of other marine creatures.

The Locations of Ocean Reef Dives:
Pared Verde
Known for its coral chimney, turtles, and a 10-meter/30-foot wall of hard and soft corals contrasted with mounds of sand.
This deep dive is for more experienced divers only.
- Minimum depth: 21 meters/79 feet
- Maximum depth: 30 meters/100 feet
- Visibility: 30meters/100 feet
Moc Che Deep
A sheer wall inhabited by lobsters, moray eels, king crabs and many other kinds of marine life.
You may be joined by sea turtles during your dive!
- Minimum depth: 20 meters/70 feet
- Maximum depth: 30 meters/100 feet
- Visibility: 30meters/100 feet
Moc Che
The shortest of the shallow dive sites, Moc Che has an abundance of small coral formations.
Near the end of the reef you will find a small arch packed with fish and sponges.

- Maximum depth: 14 meters/50 feet
- Visibility: 20meters/70 feet
Chun Zumbul
Long and shallow reef site filled with soft coral gardens and caverns, it is home to many schools of grunts, pork fish, spotted and green moray eels, and butterfly fish.
- Minimum depth: 6 meters/20 feet
- Maximum depth: 12 meters/40 fee t
- Visibility: 25 meters/85 feet
Jardines
Named for its garden-like vegetation, this site is covered with sea whips and other tree-like plants that are home to an abundance of marine life.

- Maximum depth: 12 meters/40 feet
- Visibility: 20 meters/66 feet
Sabalos
This shallow reef is demanding, due to frequent currents.
It is a mix of both large coral gardens and sandy terrain with many kinds of starfish.
There is also a small cavern to explore.

- Visibility: 20 meters/66 feet
Barracuda
This reef, shaped like a human hand, offers the diver many overhangs to explore.
There are also many small holes to explore, and, with some luck and a keen eye, you may also spot some patrolling barracuda!

- Visibility: 20 meters/66 feet
Los Arcos
For the experienced diver, Los Arcos is a deep dive with coral walls and arches that is home to moray eels, groupers and stingrays, within a delicate mix of hard and soft coral.

- Maximum depth: 30 meters/100 feet
- Visibility: 30 meters/100 feet
Cerebros
A scenic underwater landscape, Cerebros is dominated by large brain-shaped coral formations, small crustaceans and schools of tropical fish.
- Minimum depth: 6 meters/20 feet
- Maximum depth: 14 meters/45 feet
- Visibility: 20 meters/70 feet
Tortugas
Covered with corals and enormous barrel sponges, Tortugas is Playa's most sought-after dive site, due to the abundance of sea turtles that live in its flat coral garden.
- Minimum depth: 16 meters/55 feet
- Maximum depth: 30 meters/100 feet
- Visibility: 30 meters/100 feet
Mama Viña
A shrimp boat was intentionally sunk here in 1995, creating an artificial reef within the area.
