About El Bistro at La Tortuga

El Bistro arose as a necessity to provide the guests of our boutique hotel here at La Tortuga a gastronomic option of good food in a relaxed atmosphere but always with excellent and consistent service, not only for breakfast but for lunch and dinner as well.

The professional staff and atmosphere of El Bistro will make you feel at home.

Located on 10^th Avenue between 12^th Street, considered the “Bourbon Street” of Playa del Carmen where many options of nightlife converge, and the corner of 14^th Street, the access to “Calle Corazòn” which leads to the famous 5^th Avenue. El Bistro has an area with air conditioning, a terrace facing 10^th Avenue, and a comfortable interior patio nestled amongst a garden next to the swimming pool. Natural, comfortable, contemporary….the atmosphere and identity of Playa del Carmen.

Our Chef Jorge Hidalgo, originally from Veracruz, México, mixes the cooking heritage of his homeland with his experience in International Cruises and  boutique hotels to create the dishes in El Bistro.

This fusion has been shaped into the breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner, using mainly local ingredients combined with other select products to give a unique touch of modern gastronomy. The menu is updated frequently to offer a wide variety of tastes and experiences. All dishes are made fresh and the kitchen is flexible towards our clients with special dietary needs or particular tastes.

Wine Beverage List
The wine list reflects a taste for old favorites and new, international choices. You will always find a good combination of price and quality.

All the wines have been selected by our sommelier to enhance to flavor of each dish. El Bistro also offers the option of opening your own bottle for a small fee of $50 pesos, which is waved for our repeat guests.
